Wayde Schmidt

Director of Industrial Engagement, SHAP3D

Wayde joined SHAP3D center as the Director of Industrial Engagement for UConn site in March 2021. He has over 25 years of experience in areas of materials science, chemistry and materials processing methods, especially non-metal additive manufacturing methods, most recently at United Technologies Research Center (now Raytheon Technologies Research Center).  He is a named inventor on over 100 issued US patents and is a member of professional (American Chemical Society, Materials Research Society and the American Ceramic Society) and honorary societies (Sigma Xi and Phi Lambda Upsilon).  Wayde holds a PhD in Physical-Analytical Chemistry and an MBA in the Management of Technology, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
